After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant I chose to specialise in charity audit before moving into the voluntary sector. My first role was as Director of Finance and Resources at Crisis UK before moving to the newly created role of Head of Finance and Resources at the Tudor Trust.
Working as a member of the senior management team I have carried out governance reviews, led finance teams, facilitated strategic planning, overseen HR and IT functions. I developed Tudor's social investment portfolio and several reviews of its sustainable investment principles, which underpin the way in which Tudor's endowment is invested.
Gained a Masters in Charity Finance and Financial Management and supported the setting up of the new charity finance course at Bayes (formerly Cass Business school) becoming the first internal examiner and a few years later the external examiner.
I co-authored the Good Financial Management Guide for NCVO and was one of the first co-authors of ICAEW’s Preparing Charity Accounts.
A trustee of a number of charities and over the years have been involved in a number of working parties on the Charity SORP.
Since 2020 I have been working as a Charity Consultant.
I volunteer with the Cranfield Trust mentoring charity leaders and working on projects for voluntary organisations.
